Famed initially for leading the UK outfit Bloc Party, Kele Okereke had later embarked on a solo career, where he’s chosen to pen a number of tracks that have delved into the electronic realm. This one’s fresh off Okereke’s second LP, entitled Trick. It’s a combination of retro synths and full frontal, garage percussion.
Trick utilises the trademark vocals which have been a mainstay of his body of work and, sonically, there’s a more than generous nod to Talk Is Cheap by Chet Faker. With a bass-laden, shuffling quality, this stand-out number among an entirely self-produced album is sure to spell bigger things in electronic music for Kele Okereke in the near future.
